Old county animal shelter goes to Greensboro for supportive housing

Commissioners approved the no-cost transfer of the West Wendover property.

Guilford County commissioners approved transferring the former county animal shelter on West Wendover Avenue to the City of Greensboro at no cost, FOX8 reported. The site is planned for permanent supportive housing, with 48 to 65 units discussed.

Separately, the county is spending more than $10 million on a recovery facility for women with children at 5209 W. Wendover Ave. in the Gibson Park area: a $9.76 million construction contract plus about $625,000 for furniture, with room for 28, according to the Rhino Times.
