Greensboro police count 2,492 domestic violence victims since January
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The city's Purple Tree Lighting is Oct. 7.

Greensboro police said nearly 2,500 domestic violence victims have been reported in the city since January, FOX8 reported. City Council will recognize October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month on Oct. 6, and the Commission on the Status of Women holds its Purple Tree Lighting at 6 p.m. Oct. 7 at the Melvin Municipal Office Building.
