PTI's terminal bond grows to $300 million in a late change
Commissioners approved the higher figure unanimously on Sept. 3. The debt belongs to the Airport Authority, not county taxpayers.

Information as of Saturday, Oct. 3, 2026.
Piedmont Triad International Airport first asked for approval of a $275 million bond issue for a terminal modernization. By the Sept. 3 commissioners meeting, a last-minute addendum had raised the figure to $300 million, and the board approved it unanimously, the Rhino Times reported.
The bonds are Airport Authority debt, not county debt. PTI Executive Director Kevin Baker pointed to the bidding environment for construction as the reason for the increase, according to the Rhino Times.
The Airport Authority's meetings and board roster are posted on the airport's website.
