Information as of Saturday, Oct. 3, 2026.
Guilford voters will decide Nov. 3 on a quarter-cent (0.25 percent) county sales tax. The commissioners' plan for the money, as reported by the Rhino Times: 70 percent to teacher salary supplements, 18 percent to fire protection, 8 percent to GTCC and 4 percent to qualifying municipalities.
The Rhino Times reported that county voters have turned down a sales tax increase repeatedly over nearly two decades, and that commissioners spent several sessions on the ballot wording. The exact ballot language is in the State Board of Elections referendum list.
