Senate 26: Sam Page faces Steve Luking after a 23-vote primary

Page led Senate leader Phil Berger by 23 votes in the March primary. Berger asked for a hand recount.

In the March 3 Republican primary for state Senate District 26, which covers Rockingham County and part of Guilford, Sam Page led Senate President Pro Tempore Phil Berger by 23 votes, 13,135 to 13,112, after a full machine recount. Berger requested a partial hand-to-eye recount of sample precincts, including two in Guilford, and filed election protests in both counties, the State Board of Elections said.

Page is the Republican nominee on the State Board's November candidate list.
