A change in federal law shifts more of the administrative cost of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program to counties, WFMY reported, with Guilford's share topping $3 million.

The county's adopted budget lists a $3.1 million loss from H.R. 1 tied to reduced federal reimbursement for administering food and nutrition services. The county says more than 185,000 residents rely on safety-net programs.
